Shingle Options We Install
We install architectural and impact-rated (Class 4) asphalt shingles from the manufacturers that actually warranty against Alberta hail. The right shingle for your home depends on slope, exposure and budget — we'll walk you through it on-site, not over a generic phone quote.
Signs You Need a New Shingle Roof
Curling or cupping edges, bald spots where granules have washed away, cracked tabs after a windstorm, or granules piling up in your downspouts all point to a roof near the end of its life. If your roof is 18+ years old, it's worth a free inspection.
Our Installation Process
We tear off to the deck, inspect and repair any rot, install proper underlayment and ice-and-water shield at the vulnerable areas, then install your shingles to manufacturer spec so the warranty holds. Cleanup includes a full magnetic sweep for nails.
Calgary Hail and Class 4 Shingles
Calgary is one of the worst hail markets in North America. The June 2020 storm alone caused over a billion dollars in damage, and whole communities re-roofed at once. That is why we push Class 4 impact-rated shingles here. They resist bruising and granule loss from hail far better than standard shingles, and several insurers offer premium discounts for them. If you plan to keep your home more than a few years, the upgrade usually pays for itself. Ask us to price both options in your quote so you can see the difference for your actual roof.
Ventilation Makes or Breaks a Shingle Roof
Shingles age from the top and the bottom. A poorly vented attic cooks them from underneath in summer and builds ice dams at the eaves in winter. Chinook freeze-thaw cycles make it worse, melting snow by day and refreezing it at night. Every shingle quote we do includes a look at your intake and exhaust ventilation, because a perfect install over a bad attic still fails early. If your ventilation needs correcting, we tell you before the shingles go on, not after.
What Moves the Price
Roof size and pitch set the base. After that, the big movers are how many layers need tearing off, how cut up the roof is with valleys, dormers and skylights, access for material delivery and disposal, and the shingle you choose. Steeper roofs need more safety gear and more time. We quote on-site, walk you through each line, and the number we give you is the number you pay.
